Las Vegasin PokerGO-studio täyttyi pokerimaailman tähdistä, kun Global Poker Awards 2024 palkitsi vuoden parhaat pelaajat, sisällöntuottajat ja vaikuttajat.
Illan aikana jaettiin 38 palkintoa, mutta suomalaisittain odotettu pysti jäi jälleen haaveeksi.
Miikka Anttonen ja Matti Harju olivat mukana kahdessa projektissa, jotka saivat ehdokkuudet. GALFOND – Poker Docuseries kilpaili kategoriassa ”Best Episodic Poker Series”, ja Behind the Swings: The Legend of Isildur1 oli ehdolla ”Best Media Content: Video” -sarjassa.
Suomeen tuli jälleen ehdokkuuksia, mutta voittoja ei tälläkään kertaa saatu. The Big Game On Tour – PokerStars voitti Best Episodic Poker Series -palkinnon, ja Greg Clarkin BBC Scotland -tuotanto The Four Rules of the Poker Kings vei parhaan videon palkinnon.
Gaalan suurimmat voittajat
David Coleman kruunattiin vuoden GPI Poker Player of the Year -tittelillä, ja Cherish Andrews nappasi jo toisen peräkkäisen GPI Female Player of the Year -palkinnon.
Barny Boatman voitti Best Final Table Performance -palkinnon EPT Pariisin upeasta suorituksestaan, ja Alejandro Lococo äänestettiin yleisön suosikiksi kategoriassa Most Entertaining Player.
Sisällöntuottajista Brad Owen voitti uransa kolmannen Best Vlogger -palkinnon, ja Benjamin ”Spraggy” Spragg valittiin jälleen parhaaksi pokeristreamaajaksi. Hänen vaimonsa Marle Spragg puolestaan voitti Best Short-Form Content Creator -palkinnon.
Isojen turnausten puolella World Series of Poker Main Event valittiin vuoden parhaaksi tapahtumaksi, ja Brazilian Series of Poker (BSOP) kruunattiin Best Mid-Major Tour/Circuit -kategoriassa. Irish Poker Open palkittiin vuoden parhaana itsenäisenä turnaussarjana.
